I am looking to buy my first controller for my aquarium (a 39 gallon) to help monitor and automate some of the processes. I was looking at an apex but not sure which to get. I was considering waiting for the new model but its quite pricey. Any suggestions?

IMHO a JR or better the classic would be more than enough for 99.9% of tanks. Personally I went with a classic because of the # of module limitations that the JR has. The biggest bonus in the new APEX to me is the built in WiFi chip, if you can run a ethernet cable to the unit and leave it hooked up then that doesn't matter
