Hey everyone, I am looking to improve my aquascape and I am looking to use Stax Rocks from Two Little Fishies. It is my hope to place coral (especially SPS) on various levels of the stacked rock and create cool overhangs and caves instead just a pile of rocks with coral only across the top. This way I can cover most of the rock and leave plenty of room for the coral to grow and have the frag plugs rest in holes on the flat rock surfaces.

I just wanted to see if anyone else has done something like this and how it turned out.

Lets see those Stax aquascapes if you have any.

Thanks a bunch guys!!

Looks really nice man. I did not even think of doing the back wall like that!!! You could put tabling acros or montioporas in those holes in the back or even zoanthids or different encrusting corals...sweet setup man. This is why I started this thread getting different ideas seeing what would work...awesome!!! Thank you!!!

Actually the top picture you have is of another system I have. The one with STAX is a total new build. I do still have the other one though and it’s all grown in . [emoji4]

Here is the grown in one now

I didn't see the, "What the heck are Stax Rocks" on the list?

Looked them up. I think Marco sells sliced rocks like these.

EDIT: Lul, looks like Marco also sells this Stax brand.

Here’s what I’ve been working on in my IM 50 lagoon. It’s 25 pounds of Stax Rock and the tree like thing is made out of Caribsea Rubblezone. I’m using Innovative Marine Snapgrid eggcrate and risers to get some of the islands up off the bottom. I will be using more of the Rubblezone pieces to make columns around the eggcrate risers and exposed edges one I settle on a final design.

I ordered 20lbs of Stax, I'd say maybe 1/5th to a 1/6th of the box were broken pieces

I noticed a handful of negative reviews complaining about damaged pieces and it is packaged pretty poorly. It included a folded up Priority Mail envelop as partial padding, which was just odd. Given the packaging, if I ordered it again, I'd expect a decent amount of damage.

Haven’t used Stax but have used Marco shelf which is similar, with pukani on a couple tanks. I like shelf’s but too much flat rock can get a little redundant imo. Here’s one corner of my latest build while a buddy holds all of my livestock until I’m a few months in. I like the Marco shelf because its flat but has a tapered profile with a bunch of crevices etc. FWIW.

Well that’s really unfortunate. I actually had very little damage in all of my boxes. Did you try and contact them?

Same for me. I had a 20# box with a few small pieces but not really anything broken, and a 5# box where all 10 pieces were perfectly intact. That box looks terrible, sorry that happened to you. I would definitely try to get some consideration from whoever you bought it from.

I bought 2 40 lbs boxes because I loved the way it looked at MACNA. I was mostly looking from above. Now that I can see it from the side, I don’t really like it for big scapes. I use it for QT and maybe frags in the future. Doesn’t seem to absorb copper.

If anyone wants some for cheaper than normal, ping me.
