Ok we got the old and gone paladarium. that had dart frogs up top and fish in the bottom. Guppies, etc. All real plants.
That’s fog on the water.


Next up We have the 90g. Dual canister filters. Co2. Hydor inline heater and heater built into filter (oase). I can never get a good pic of this tank. Besides it’s gonna be redone soon

Green Leaf Aquatics are what I suggest. There are lower priced options but my GLA regulator has been flawless for the past 6 years I've had it.

I did it piece by piece. Just make sure you use a good regulator with a bubble counter and a solenoid on it so you can use a timer. Milwaukee and Ista make affordable Regulators that are great. Co2 should come on 1 hour before lights and turn off 1 hour before lights go off.

if you have a canister filter I recommend an in-line diffuser.I think I got mine from Green Leaf Aquarium. Anything from the brand Ista will do as well.

Yeah, I have their paintball regulator I bought in 2014. Not once it experience the end of tank dump since way back then even though it is a single stage regulator. I am not considering their normal regulator.

My 5 gallon betta tank. It was originally plastic plants on the desk of my office. Two weeks ago, I decided to make it a planted tank and add tank mates (neon tetras, snails, corys and cherry shrimp).

I have some java fern on the way to plant into the front rock wall and more red shrimp (Petco only had 3. I have 8 more coming). the neons and shrimp were hiding a bit when I snapped this pick, but the do spend a lot of time exploring the tank, especially with the moss carpet.



So quick initial thoughts, the hair algae is gone, yeah. More importantly, the betta is noticeably happier.

I had a plastic leaf that suctioned to the glass for the betta to rest. In the two years since getting the tank, the betta never rested on it.

I found him taking a midday nap on the annubias today.





He appears very relaxed, vibrant colors and fins flowing. I've been binging on you tube planted aquarium videos before starting the change over. All the plants can are low-mid lighting needs and can take nutrients directly from the water. I am lightly dosing Seachem Flourish for nutrients and Excel for a carbon source. Lights are on the Apex and the 25w thermostat heater is on my WillHi controller as back up.




The crossover to a planted aquarium has been a lot of fun and very interesting. I think being a reefer really helped understand a lot of the chemistry and the need to research and plan.

Lots of them. My 120 is my first salt tank when I finally finish cycling.

The 75 has amano shrimp, flower shrimp. German Blue Rams, Bolivian Rams, Gold Rams, Green Severum and a pleco.

the 55 has a breeding pair of Electric Blue acara, a breeding pair of Kribensis, a few loaches and a pleco

The 3 stack has breeding pair of Kennyi Cichlids on bottom, breeding pair of yellow labs and pod of Corydoras. top tank has yellow lab fry

The 4 stack has breeding (but always eating their eggs) Red Jewel Cichlids, 2ndfrom bottom is 75 or so Kribensis Fry. #rd from bottom is the last remaining 10 or so Kennyi fry. The top is a betta and a cherry red shrimp tank.

This tank saw a few iterations, but this one was definitely my favorite.
40 breeder with fluval 306 canister, finnex light.
pool filter sand substrate, lots of water wysteria and some java fern and foxtail.
Livestock consisted of some neon tetras that i got from petsmart and fattened up, 6 swordtails, and 6 dwarf rainbows.

And this is what it looked like before i took it down

And lastly my 75 gallon that was home to a pair of Blood parrots that i got from someone local who could not care for them after their son went off to college. These two were like little puppies.

These all gave way to the single 28gal reef system i have now. My electric bill thanks me, Its not cheap to keep all those tanks at 80 degrees in the New England winters
