That's what it looks like normally. If you look at yours, you can see the same horizontal lines. Like I said, it flared up for the new Tang and even the yellow tail turned dark. It looked so different, and that's why I took the quick picture
Gotcha. I thought that was it's normal color. I've never seen mine change color like some fish do.

@mfollen thanks man!

@Flame2hawk I’ve posted pics of him before in his normal coloration. He’s larger so when he pops his colors they really show. He’s shared the tank with my Achilles hybrid the last 3+ years. When they display you can see the goldrim colors in the hybrid that are t usually as apparent as well.

Here’s the Achilles hybrid popping his colors. You can really see the gold rim colors along the back of the dorsal fin. When he’s displaying this area lightens up and the face becomes darker.

So really cool pics people are sharing of their tangs displaying!

A few months ago made the hard decision to pull the PBH tang as he was becoming increasingly aggressive towards the black tang. I’m not sure how old the black is, I only know badsmitty got him as a baby. Given his size it wouldn’t surprise me if he was 10-12 yrs old.

PBH refused to go in the trap (unlike literally every other fish). Ended up draining the tank to pull him. It landed with a buddy of mine with a 180.

Phase two was to get some baby yellows so he’d have company. I’m happy to report some 6 weeks on harmony has been restored.

Outside of perhaps some smaller complimentary fish the bow front is largely done.
