I just added my first anemone to my tank a little over a week ago. The first few days he was doing fine, I noticed he has even grown a little since I first purchased him. Then about 3 days ago every night he started shriveling up and during the day he would come back out again. I thought it may have been from me turning the ac on in my room at night but the temperature stays the same! All parameters are right. I read other people say the same thing happens to theirs so I figured it would be no big deal but today he has shriveled up and hid twice now! I can’t even get a picture of him to try & show you because of where he planted himself & how small he turns when he shrinks ☹️ What do you guys think the cause could be!?

I would just leave it alone, they do go for a wonder and as they are mostly water they suck it in and expand then blow it all out and look tiny on occasion. Also as it's only been a week it needs to find where its happy.
Mine would stay in 1 spot for ages. Then all of a sudden it just went for a walk next open up where it was , the next night after lights out I did it again under a rock this time and stayed there for a week and I had a job to see it. It was about a quarter of the size it was before then finally it settled it got huge then spilt. Just make sure when can next see it that the mouth isn't gaping open.

Thank you! Every time he does open, his mouth is normal

  1. How old is your tank?
  2. What kind of lighting do you have?
  3. Can you post parameters?
  4. Is it getting any light where it is hiding?
  5. Was it acclimated properly?
I know it’s a lot of questions, but these answers may help someone help you.
