Does anyone know on the Sicce Syncra SDC 7/9 pump which pins are active on the power supply 4 pin connector. I found this pinout going from Hydros Kraken to Sicce, but was wondering, if on the actual Sicce power supply (SKT0209) they are jumpered or not?

While I cannot comment on the exact process, as it falls outside of our first-party product offerings, we are always happy to assist HYDROS users, including by providing the pinout sheet referenced above. We have seen this topic discussed in the HYDROS forum, particularly regarding the SDC 7/9 pumps, which use a unique (though not proprietary) plug style that can be more difficult to locate.

The M16 waterproof plug is not too bad to find. I just wonder if all 4 pins are truly used on the power supply side. I did post on the other forum as well, but want to avoid shorting a controller. I can see jumpering it on the kraken end.
 
I did find this, and it seems like different pins, anyone make a cable before can confirm they cross over?

I have been trying to resolve this too, but no luck yet. I am going to give it another go tomorrow. I am not sure the answer to this problem is located on that other forum. But I can indeed confirm the pinout coming out of the SDC 7.0 controller at the M16 connector is different than the Kraken pinout. But, unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of activity there.

Here is a picture of the M16 connector coming out of the Sicce SDC 7.0 pump controller. My next step is cut open a 24V Force Port cable, I think I'm going to find two wires, and I think I should according to the Kraken pinout, but the Sicce uses 4 wires. In the photo, the Sicce SDC 7.0 is wired as such:
Red to pin 1
Blue to pin 2
Black & White to pin 3
Pin 4 is unused

Progress! I got the Sicce SDC 7.0 working with 24V DC power from Kraken.

The Sicce SDC 7.0's M16 4-pin connectors are wired EXACTLY BACKWARDS from the Kraken pin out. You must wire your M16 connector backwards per the hand drawn diagram attached.

I have one of my pumps running now for over an hour, everything is fine. No sparks, smoke, fire, melting plastic, so all good signs! 😂

I am going to make another connector now for the second pump. I will document each step, with photos & links to where I got the parts when I'm finished.

So it doesn't even match the pin outon the power supply? That's interesting. I wonder if there's an regulatory issues on the Sicce side, since they cut and splice that connector. I did finally find my tester, I just need to find something small enough to test and confirm.
 
Honestly, I didn't look at the pinout on the power supply. I opened the backside of the connector itself & looked at which wires were going to which pins & wrote it down (see photo above).

I tried taking the power supply connector apart and had the compression fitting off but it wouldn't budge. I was too worried about breaking it.
 
I got some very settling news from Hydros regarding the Kraken high (orange) pc board temp. I emailed Michael S with Hydros support asking if this is a dangerous situation running long term with the higher pc board temp and his reply was:

It is not Dangerous . The PC board temp can go up to 190 degrees without issue . I believe at 160 degrees it goes Red , but even then it's not an issue .

I've seen customers put these controllers in outside closed containers and they can get much higher temps than that . When that happens we do recommend using a fan or something for good ventilation.


This answer really put my mind at ease. I don't want to do anything unsafe or dangerous. So if your pc board temp runs a bit higher than normal like mine, there should be no issues.

I plan to post a full how-to with photos to make the adapter for the Sicce SDC 7.0 pump when I get time (really busy last few days). I believe it should work for the 9.0 pump as well, but I cannot verify that as I don;t have one.

It is tight sometimes. But I noticed when I looked very closely, I was trying to seperate the connector at the wrong spot. It doesn't come apart on the backside the way you would think. Try turning the conector further back (kind of hard to explain this, just look very closely). When I get some time, I'll post some pics or a short vid.

So, now my thought is, how can I put a battery backup on the Sicce pump.
 
Ie pwm or mppt charge controller with 24v battery bank.
