Hi,

About 9 months ago I bought a new Sicce SDC 6.0. I already had a 6.0 in my tank but the pump failed. When the new one came in I just grabbed the pump to replace the one in the tank. I never even looked at the rest of the parts.

I also had trouble getting the ContrALL app to see the pump when I first installed the original pump about four years ago so I just never bothered with it.

Anyway, I have more bandwidth now to think about things like repairing the old pump to have as a spare. I thought the app might give me some indication of what happened to the original pump so I tried again to get the app to recognise the controller but no go and the directions in the app don't match up with the controller (it says to press and hold the + button but there is no + button on the controller for instance).

As a last resort, I pulled the controller out of the new SDC's box. It is a different controller that, at least looks like the controller for the SDC 3.0. Did they change the controller at some point or was this a mistake? It was ordered brand new from BRS and was sealed when I got it.

Here is the one that came with my original SDC 6.0:

It seems to be missing quite a few features from the original.

I guess I answered my own question. I went out to Sicce USA and they show the second controller with all of the SDCs now and they show both controllers as spares for the SDC 6.0, 7.0, and 9.0 and apparently it is different from the one for the 3.0 because it has a different controller listed for it.

The good news? The 'new' controller connected right up to the app. The less good news? It thinks the pump is running just fine but it is doing nothing, No noise, no temperature change, no error and no water movement.

Since I don't use any of the modes, I think I will install the 'new' controller on the tank and try to get the 'old' controller to talk to the app off the tank to have as a spare. I still need to figure out what happened to the old pump. One day it just stopped running. I pulled it and cleaned it. but it wasn't dirty by any means. It fired right up when I reassembled it so I put it back in the tank. It ran a couple of days and then just stopped again. Pulled it apart double checked everything, it powered right up so I installed it again. It failed a few hours later and this time it didn't come back on. The impeller looks fine, is it? I don't know I don't see or feel anything wrong with it. The bearings seem fine. I'm going to see about a repair as I do want a spare pump on the shelf. I was hoping the app would give me some insight.

They switched to the new, smaller controller a couple years back if memory serves me. It definitely lost features from the old controller but my experience is the same as yours…the old controller is a royal pain to get to connect but the new controller is quick and easy

Great thing is Sicce is a fantastic company with great customer service. Reach out and see what they have to say. It might just be a power supply issue

I left the old controller and power supply in place on the tank along with all the plumbing so I just dropped in the pump, hooked the plumbing to it and plugged it into the controller. I never even opened the other internal box which is why I didn't notice the different controller. It has been running ever since so it is the pump itself. I don't have a receipt for the pump since Tenecor provided it, brand new in box, along with my tank and Tenecor is long gone.

I will reach out anyway as I don't really want to buy another whole rig just to get the pump.

Lost features is an understatement. I decided to turn the pump back on to try to troubleshoot some more. I picked up the controller to turn it on, nothing. I found and downloaded the new manual for the new controller version from Sicce, there was no manual in the box. It seems the ONLY thing you can do from the controller if it is connected to the app is turn off the pump. Insanity.
