Hello guys,

im finishing my new 200 gal setup , the person helping me with the tank installed the two 1 1/2 overflow bulkheads with straight connections to a 90 degree and straight down to the sump.

After we started the system the noise become really loud, my home feels like to have a waterfall on my dining room.

Everything is installed so now need to do improvisation.

need recommendations

- Install a T and go to a dual Durso

- Install an externally overflow box with Herbie

Im not an expert, just spend last night doing a postgrade in Overflow systems, oviously my installer has aero knowledge on this Task.

bellow some pictures

Thanks for the support

Where is the noise coming from? Sump or overflow? It looks like you have 2 drain pipes, correct? Usually you set one as the main drain and the second as an emergency with no flow or very little. What size drain pipes? How many GPH is your return pump? I could not see you movie.

Thanks for your Reply,

Noise comes from the upper side of the pipe , from then overflow, the problem is that both are at the same level.

Pump is 3200 gph

Drains are 1 1/2 inch

Gate valve on the main drain, no valve on the emergency. If you can't adjust the flow of the drain, I'm not sure you'll ever be able to silence it.

Maybe watch a reef tank plumbing video or two before starting. If you don't have any unions, now might be a good time to add some too.

The return section fittings look like painted pvc but those two 90s that drop into the sump look like copper fittings lol.
Good job with the faux.
Yes, looks really nice, I actually thin that the inside need to look perfect, I will share more pictures when the waterfall stops doing noise, meanwhile you ear a waterfall on every corner of the house

Putting valves on both lines is just going to create some major potential issues. Ie a very high risk of flooding. You need to raise the level at which the water enters one one line so you have a primary and an emergency drain. If you cut a street elbow of so it is shorter you may be able to fit it into the bulkhead inside you overflow box. There is no need to glue is in. A street elbow has one side to fit inside other PVC fittings and one to fit over tubing.
By cutting it at the red line as below it hopefully will make it small enough to fit in your overflow. Cutting it at the yellow line will lower the level at which water will start flowing into it. The line with this would be your emergency drain and should not have a valve on it. It should have little to no water going through it normally.

If you can not fit this in you overflow box you will have to have an external box to do it in.
