Hello :) I have a reef octopus NW-200 skimmer, the water level of my sump is lower than the valve output of the skimmer,so the water coming out of the skimmer make a sound of splash when it touches the sump's water.. How can I silence this effect? Can I cut the tube which has the valve at its top to make it shorter? so it will be under water? Will it affect the skimmer performance or anything? heberger image Thank you! :)

Home depot sells a rubber 90 degree fitting that you can attach a piece of PVC too. That's what most people including myself in the past have done

Hi Oliver,
Shortening the tube will affect skimmer performance. Same as the 90 Degree fitting as then the water output will be under pressure.
Suggest you make a DIY vent as in below link which would not affect your skimmer performance. shouldn't cost you more than 5-10 bucks if you do it yourself.

ou can skip the top cap or drill a hole through it to release the pressure...

One other way is raising sump water level till it covers half of your skimmer output if possible
