Siliconing starboard for barebottom tips

For those of you who have siliconed in starboard, abs or any other sheet to the bottom of your bare bottom tank, do you have any tips on how to best silicone the sheet to the tank?

I’d like to have a clean seal, with no open space around the edges for detritus to accumulate.

Did you apply a bead around the edge of the board? If so how far from the edge? Or did you apply a thin film over the bottom?

One tip i found is to put a slight radius on your corners of starboard so they don't dig into your vertical seams of your glass silicone. I did that then just put some heavy beads down on bottom glass, put starboard down, put some weight on, let it dry overnight, then came back through and siliconed the top in using masking tape to get my edges straight.

Thanks @ChaseBurke when you came back for the top, did you run the tape on both sides of the silicone? one on the interior on top of the starboard, one above on the glass? Then wipe clean?

Yeah i did. Glass side and starboard side. Another tip, when you go to wipe excess off get your finger wet and to the seam in one pass so you don't have starts and stops.
