Silver belly Wrasse Injured

Hey there

My silver belly wrasse chased something onto to the rock work in front of my eye and seems to have gotten wounded around the gill. I introduced him to my tank about a month ago, and he was finally getting into the rhythm….getting out of the sand at day break and promptly burying himself back in when the blues came on. He was eating well as well…until this freak accident.

Do wrasses heal themselves? Do I need to add any medication? I don’t have a QT, so will need to dose the display tank if required. Please help!

Is the fish still out and swimming? Is he eating at all?

I’d just keep a close eye on him for now. They can heal from injuries, but you just want to keep an eye out for any signs of an infection.

And for the future, going to Petco and getting a little ten gallon tank when they have the $1 per gallon sale would be good. Dosing/medicating the display tank is something you should at all costs.

If you’re wondering if it will heal on its own - yes
Do however keep an eye on it for improvement and not sore or infected
If it gets reddish, treat in a separate tank with seachem neoplex

The wrasse looks pretty good. In the absence of other symptoms it should heal up on its own.
