Simple / Affordable Mixing Station - 40 Gallon

I spent some time trying to find containers at a reasonable price for my mixing station (that weren't Brute trashcans) and stumbled upon these from Amazon - Chapin 40 Gallon Tank . For under $100 with free shipping I figured I would take the plunge.

After a little trial and error and lots of trips to Lowes I finally found a simple plan for the mixing station.

• I used the drain cap that came with the tank and 'plugged' the main drain hole.
• I used a submersible pump inside the tank to pump water up & out of the tank and from here I have 2 options w/ ball valves
• Option 1 - I can send water through a 3/4" hose to my tank (my tank is not too far from my garage so I'll just roll the tank to the door and then have the hose go to the tank - I also have a ball valve at the other end of the hose so I can stop the flow from the tank easily).
• Option 2 - I can recirculate the water inside the tank to keep everything mixed. You can see from the inside pic that I made a T with some 45* adapters to circulate water
• For RODI water it will sit on a stand above the SALT tank and just use the drain and gravity feed water to fill the SALT tank / my ATO tank (I grabbed this elbow from Amazon with a shut off to make life easy along with a hose to 3/4 tube adapter - 90 Degree Adapter )

Overall all in less than $300 for 40 gallons of SALT and 40 gallons of RODI - I feel not too bad.

That was my issue. All of the tanks I found were $150-175 and shipping was $150. These are on prime - free shipping and arrived in 2 days.

Got everything finalized and working as expected. Moved 25gallons from RO to SW tank. Stocking up just waiting on salt.

Very nice and well thought out. I had to go with Brute, and I use a 1/4 hp sump pump to get it to my tanks, and to mix my salt

Good point I don't know why my brutes get this brownish film in the salt mix container only. Quit a mess to clean up. Also have no idea what it is if someone does would not mind knowing

It was either that or the sticker that said “Chapin” - I erred for dummy proofing it haha

The top is about 6” - plenty big and easy to get the pump in.

Here is mine 2 40 gallon. One straight RO the other for salt mix. The

RO system is zero waste from Watts whi is connected to the water heater and an added DI. I use a 1/4 hp sump pump to move the water, and to mix in the salt

Those aren’t right I had to check also. If you look on Amazon they have the shipping size - it’s much closer to accurate.

Are you talking about my garbage containers? If so they are at any hardware store and 35 imperial gallons.
