Anyways, I've wanted to install a float valve for my 200 gallon ro/di storage container but I wanted to use an off the shelf solution. There once was a time that I walked away for a night and ended up overflowing the container from the ro/di production.

For the purpose of this install, I used the components from the "RO/DI shutoff valve and float valve kit" from Bulkreefsupply.

Using a short section of 1/4" OD clear acrylic tubing, a jig and a heat gun, I bent the tubing at a tight 90 degree angle. You must take care to keep the heat gun moving so you dont cook one spot. 20180725_123843.jpg

I bent a small amount at a time while keeping the heat gun on its target. So the tubing would maintain its inside diameter dimensions and not collapse in on itself during the forming of the elbow, I ran a spare USB cord through the tube. Making sure to lubricate the cord in soapy water makes removing the cord much easier when the job is done.

I cleaned the edges of the acrylic tube and ran water through it to clear it of dust. I installed one end of the tube to the new float valve and the other end to the bulkhead.

I've tested it's function and it shuts off the production water. All of this because I dont like installing bulkheads on the side of containers, if I can help it.
