So...finally all was well. Growing GHA no real signs of Dino, green film.
Water tested fine, but my nitrates were at 80ppm. So I did a water change. All was good for a couple weeks.

Added a couple fish & shrimp.

Been running my skimmer and green killing machine for last couple weeks.

Did a wipe down of all algae off walls and overflow.

Next day...boom Dinos! Now had them last two days.

Do I not have enough fish for a skimmer?

Are you sure it’s Dino’s and not cyano? I’ve read it’s very hard to tell unless you have a microscope.

Imo dinos are easy to see with naked eye. At the end of the light cycle there will be little bubbles attached to the brown algae.

Sorry. I don’t think you skim too much. You seem to have plenty of nitrates and phosphates. This is a bit of a head scratcher. Is your UV directly in the tank?

I had a bad outbreak of dinos. Ostreopsis I believe. No microscope Id but many snails died. The ones that lived only fed at night when the dinos were in the water column. It was bad I couldn’t see to the back of my tank . After months of raising nutrients, adding competition and manual removal I beat them.. of course always present but not visible in my case. I then dealt with gha and had bryopsis. Fluconazole and gradually reducing phosphate, nitrate, manual removal and got rid of algae. My phosphate got up to 5ppm !! on Hanna checker. I got phosphate down to 0.2-0.5 for months. Recently noticed dinos coming back, rock is more mature so they don’t attach everywhere. Nitrate 25ppm and phosphate 0.25, I run fuge, skimmer, and purigen. It’s long winded but I do feel removing to much organics/nutrients even with moderate nitrate and phosphate may contribute to dino blooms . Competition needs those nutrients. I’ve removed purigen, stopped water changes and stopped skimming and have seen improvement. My tank is still immature about 1 year but the first bloom really stunted maturation.
