My skimmer which is a Reef octopus 110 on a 40gb reef pulls out a brightish green color skimmate; there are a few big pieces of gunk in the cup also. Then there's everyone else having dark brown and almost black skimmate ,and I'm wondering if anyone know what this really means? It takes right at 4-5 days to fill the cup up 80% of the way. Then I do mean weekly cleaning of the skimmer cup.

The only difference between the dark stuff and the light stuff is basically the amount of water in it. If you skim dry you tend to get the dark stuff. If you skim wet you get the light.
