I’m comparing a couple of used skimmers. Any thoughts or opinions on the ASM G2 vs. Simplicity 240DC? I’m putting together a 150g display tank with a 55g sump. I think the ASM is a couple of years old, the Simplicity is “used, like new.” Both are offered at around $180. Our end goal isn’t a HUGE bio load, but I realize it’s based on feeding habits. Too new to really know what will transpire in a 150.
We’ve run a 46g for 3 years.

Check out recirculating skimmers, and truly set-and-forget, with sump water level becoming irrelevant.

Of the 2 choices, I'd go with the Simplicity 240DC.
It's a DC powered skimmer which gives you more control of the the output, it's a much newer skimmer than the ASM and the 240DC is IMO the perfect size for a 150g. I had the 240DC on a 180g and switched it out after a year. Not because it wasn't a good skimmer but I felt it was just a tad undersized for my bio-load.
