Skimmer for 100g total tank

Been running LPS tank last 3 years, ready to get some acros and want to get stronger skimmer. Been running reef octo classic 150int. Any recommendations? Tank is bare bottom with 3 tangs and 2 clowns. Nutrients normally run phosphate.03-.07 and nitrates 5-9, would like to get those a little lower.

The reef octo classic 150int should handle your size tank. I have the same skimmer on my tank. Your numbers are great.

Yea that’s a good skimmer for your tank.

I run a 150SSS on a 225, and even it handles things well.

Stick with what you’ve got.

Why would you want the nutrients to be lower? By our test kit's error margin, that's near zero for PO4, which is not a good way go. Once you add more coral bio mass, I don't think you'll have to worry about nutrients and like others mentioned, the skimmer is fine.

Really, wow thanks. 15 years ago I ran an acro tank and if phos hit .05 I’d be doing a 20% water change

Why would you want the nutrients to be lower? By our test kit's error margin, that's near zero for PO4, which is not a good way go. Once you add more coral bio mass, I don't think you'll have to worry about nutrients and like others mentioned, the skimmer is fine.

Maybe knowledge has changed over the years. For acros we used to aim for 0.0-.03 and nitrates under 5

You do know Acropora will consume Nitrates and Phospahtes?

My tank runs at .27 phosphates and nitrate 18 ish.

Yes that’s high but my tank is showing that’s what it likes, with good color, hardly any algae and pristine rocks.

I wouldn’t buy a skimmer to hit a lower number. You have already achieved good numbers

Yeah, things have definitely changed. Wanting nutrients that low is risking dinos taking over and virtually starving corals.
