I run a 105-gallon mixed reef with a sump that contains a filter sock, bag of carbon, biopellets, and skimmer. I usually turn off my skimmer for about 60 minutes and switch my circulation pumps to feed mode for about 15 minutes whenever I dose ultra-fuel or target feed oyster-feast.
Would it be better to turn off the return pump so the coral food avoids the sump? This way the skimmer can still work on the biopellet output.
How long should I allow the coral food to circulate?
Any thoughts/suggestions?
