I have a 20 gallon Waterbox AIO cube. Using filter floss, carbon, biomedia, adding phosguard soon. Weekly water changes. If you had to invest in one piece of equipment, would it be a filter roller or a nano skimmer, and why? Thank you!

I will never use a skimmer in my 20G again. I can pull the nutrients out with 5G weekly water changes. I would consider a roller if automated. If I have to manually advance the roll, I will stick with my filter floss replacement schedule. I LOVE my Reefmat, wish they made a 20G size, lol.

I would say skimmer because it is a smaller tank. If you had something bigger I would go with filter roller

Neither are needed, imo.
Good surface agitation from a controlable powerhead for gas exchange.
WC 2g's a month. 2 part with trace daily.
Carbon and gfo reducing media in a bag when needed.
Floss in a media basket.
My old 20g from zero to 10 months.

Filter roller or nano skimmer was the question.
Yeah, but if the OP wants to go filter roller, what would the recommendation be on gas exchange, since that seems to be why skimmer was recommended. I though powerheads breaking water surface tension is sufficient in a nano, I’m asking for myself too.

I put an airstone in waterbox 10 aio as i was concerned about gas exchange.
