so, can't decide on a skimmer for a 120g tank. Thought about going with the coral box cloud 9 since it's at a really good value and know they perform really good or getting a rlss r8i for about $20 more. Anyone have any experience with either of these skimmers.

What size footprint can you fit? I've had great luck with my Vertex Omega 130 on my 40, if anything it is oversized. I've considered upgrading to a 120 and skimmers that came to mind were the Omega 180 and Reef Octopus Classic 202-S for AC options and the Reef Octopus Regal 150INT for a DC option.

Thanks. I've had a few friends who didn't like the vertex. Couldn't keep it consistently skimming. They always were adjusting it. I love the 202 and regal but just so expensive. Lol found a regal 220 for $425 tho. But pretty sure it's way to big for me.

My 130 stops skimming on my medium stocked 40 as well. I found success in not messing with it if I checked and noticed it wasn't doing much. To me that just meant that it had caught up with the load and I like that my skimmer isn't pulling 24/7 since I'm not feeding 24/7. It seems to clean up after I feed anything and that's what I was looking for. As long as the skimmer cup is a little more filled from last time I checked it, and the skimmate is dark, I know it's working. I wonder what size tanks those 180s were on and how heavily they were loaded.
