Reef octopus elite 150, requires a sump.
Has variable speed pump to simplify tuning.

I’m very happy with my Tunze. It was donated by Tunze, but I would not be saying I liked it if I did not, and I picked it based on recommendations of other reefers that I respect.

Reef octo, and if you have the room and lack of fear of leak the external models are the way to go as they offer greater tuning.

def too big for your 31gal sump, not much room for a refugium either. Go with the space saving model - the 150SSS ! it is expensive but you only buy one time.
Ask the manufacturer they made it. I believe that the rating is the maximum rating, and uses the total system volume not just the sump since the water is continually rotating through the sump. Again sorry ask the Manufacturer not believe opinions. Let me know whos correct not just shooting in the dark

im currently using the 150sss in my tank - note that my tank and the OP tank are similar but a tad smaller. So , i know for a fact. Are you running the same setup ? Also, im not here for a debate on whos right vs wrong.

This is a perfect option , totally forgot about this model.

I ran that on my WB 37 gal sump and it fit well, enough to add a refugium. I added more live stocks thru the yr so i wanted something a tad bit bigger / stronger so i got the 150sss. With that said , the 150sss fit perfectly and i was able to keep my refugium. Any bigger skimmer would not fit in the WB sump setup like one i have and the OP if you also want a refugium.
