Slow growing soft corals

What are some slow growing soft corals?
In other words what corals will take more than 6 months to a year to cover over a rock and wont overgrow everything in a tank?

Any soft corals that won't overtake other corals or if I put it on a rock island won't groe onto the sand?

Do zoanthids grow on sand? Can I put tham on a rock island and not have to frag them maybe make a zoa garden with lps then sps?

Avoid blue clove polyps, xenia, palys, clove anything (clavuelaria?)

Gsp is easy enough to grow on the sand. Just keep it at least several inches from your main rock work and watch it. It generates its own purple carpet on the sand like the old movie the blob.

Mushrooms can be kept on a separate Island. But they may detach and float around and end up where you don't want them.

If you are spending larger amounts, I love green Kenya tree and Japanese pink nepthea.

Pipe organ coral, corky finger, sinularia are all pretty choices and can be reasonably priced.

Sorry should have been more specific if I put them on a rock seperate from the main structure will they grow over sand onto the rock eventually if I do not frag or stay on the rock?

Not really. They need a rock to grow well.

All corals will grow if your tank parameters are decent.

In terms lf soft corals for this tank I would like a couple of leathers and zoanthids but I would like to avoid too much fragging

Got this mushroom ultra slow growing was size of pinky nail 3 yrs later thumb nail size!

They have the potential to shade out other corals. But it would be a months long process.

All soft corals are decently fast growing, However you can easily frag them. I don't see why you want to avoid growth for 6 months...

The slowest growing soft coral I have is the japanese pink nepthea (and any expensive zoa lol). I have found toadstools to be fairly slow growing (for soft coral). Sinularia grows quicker than the toadstool but is easily fragged and doesn't self propagate like some of the kenya trees.
