I have a 300 gallon setup w/ a somewhat aggressive flame and a bicolor that also can hold its own. Wondering if I'd have trouble with a smaller imp or if I should maybe get a larger one?

You should be fine. I introduced a small juvenile emperor angel with two slightly larger dwarf angels (coral beauty, midnight) and they all got along great. Now the emperor is about 4x the size and kind of a dick, but that's a whole other story...
