My secondary tank of 6 month's old has some weird smell to the water - almost chemically type of an odor. Nothing really is in it at the moment other than 2 GSPs and 1 Damsel. This smell wasn't in my other tank. I wonder if it's from the substrate as it's different than what I used in tank 1.

Thoughts?

Could be anything from organics, algaes, equipments, etc. Has activated carbon or waterchanges helped at all?

Hmm, never even thought to try carbon. Water changes don't appear to be doing anything, but hoping carbon will try. Have to go to LFS to go get a pack to try out.
