snail eating hawkfish ??

Once upon a time, I had a hawkfish that loved eating small snails. There is a story with that. I collected a bunch of pretty small Obsolota snails & put them in the tank. Well this hawkfish became very proficient at turning these snails over & the second the snail would stick out it's foot to turn itself upright,This fish would lightening fast swoop down & snatch it right out of it's shell ! Has anyone have this happen to them with larger snails ? Say a nassarious or such? Thanks

Yep

Usually nassarius snails are smaller (at least by me) at about 1-3 cm long.

I've seen larger hawks flip turbo snails and chow down

dang. I didn't know they were that aggressive. Is it possible to keep any snails with them?

I've never had hawks go after snails. Hermits and small shrimp yes, but not snails.

Flame, longnose, arc-eye, freckled, lyretail, and giant.

This fish was a longnose hawk, very cool & fun to watch. The snails were very" small " obsolata's they don't live long as they are a temperate zone critter & can't take the warmer temps in our tanks. I mean not a year.
The reason I'm asking is I'm considering adding one to the new 180.

We have a long nose and a brittle star the long nose doesn't bother the star

I had a Falco that absolutely decimated my stomatella population but left everything else alone. I have a Flame now who doesn't touch snails either.
