So upset...lost my fav fish today

So I'm doing my usual roll call for the morning and can't find my Blue Throat Trigger...as I'm searching, I see him head first in a hole dug by my Pistol shrimp and sure enough...hes gone. I did all my testing and everything is normal as usual for my tank, no spikes in anything and all other fish are fine. He was behaving normal and eating up until last night. I'm honestly really down about this one cause I grew really attached to him... I'll miss you buddy:(

I've heard that pistol shrimp will kill fish from time to time. I know triggers are pretty tough but how long have you had the shrimp?

Sorry for your loss, it's never easy and one of the frustrating things in this hobby. I'm wondering if the trigger was interested in the pistol shrimp and could of possibly been stunned by the snap of the shrimp? Just speculation ofcourse.

Pistol has been in my tank for a little over 2yrs. I think the trigger might have floated there, its never in the pistols area and usually swims up in the open area and sleeps opposite end of tank, but then again I could be wrong...:(
