So... What percentage do you use?

So... What percentage do you use when you tell your spouse you bought something for your tank? I found that the 50% rule isn't enough, so I use the 20% rule.


I buy a $100 coral and tell her it cost $20. I buy a $500 fish and tell her it costs $100.

And yes "My biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell my corals for what I told her I paid for them".


And I'm dead meat if she sees this post. haha

I saw a really nice blasto $100+ this weekend at a swap. And was hesitant to get it. I turned around and she was telling him to bag it up. Haha

I couldn't live with myself if I "fibbed" on what I paid. Spose its the whole trust thing. I've considered it though, but I live alone and not married so I don't have that issue yet. Cross that bridge when I get to it. I'll probably try to avoid that question when I do.

A buddy of mine who is in the hobby can't lie to his wife because they share the same account. So every time he goes to the grocery store he buys one of those pre-paid credit cards for $10 or $20. Then he uses them to get his livestock. haha

I have a variable rate...but it probably stays between 20-40%. I do get busted occasionally....
