soft coral growth

I have recently been trying to control how my soft corals grow so they are all perfect. How do I stop myself from trying to control how they grow? I am always trying to move/frag the corals because I think they will grow how I want them to grow but it never turns out well.

I actually don’t have any idea how you get them to grow the way you want, but I totally get the feeling. My husband and I are always joking, that the reef tank is my therapy project, because I cannot control it completely/ make it do what I want, but just have to accept, that it does what it does (I find new stuff in there almost every week and corals sometimes don’t like where I want them to be so I have to move them). Makes me sometimes panic, because I am used to fresh water tanks where you put in plants and fish/shrimp and don’t have many surprise guests.

Every time you touch them and/or move them they start acclimating again, just leave it all alone.

They're gonna grow how they want to grow and there's really no way to control that.

I just let mine grow however they want, then I control them once they grow in the "wrong spot", and this becomes an issue with time when most softies grow like wildfire. They will adapt to current, light and all so no point trying to control them if you already placed them in the area you want it.
