I recently bought a duncan from a local reefer and he threw in for free a fungia and some kind of soft coral. He wasn't sure what it was, and I can't figure it out. But it seems happy enough in my reef jar. Any ideas?

Looks like sinularia to me too. Easy to care for and grows quite quickly.

Thanks everyone. It looks like it is sinularia to me, too. Initially, it looked very flat, but now some of the fingers have plumped up a bit, much like in the pictures of seen online of this coral. I am a newbie, but what is interesting about this coral is that it seems to have a lot of what look to me like sclerites, white rice-shaped things embedded in the flesh.

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?
