Oh boy........... writing this you guys think I'm crazy, but just want to point out something that I experienced 38 years ago, "Total Solar Eclipse"
We had a last one in 1979 and many still remember that event but how little we knew about our reef tanks.
Pretty sure majority hobbyist in the hobby now weren't even born or in the hobby at that time.
I did experienced some weird event on that day as my fish were swimming erratically in the tank both fresh and salt water.
Even when I went to the LFS that day as that was your only info source that time and they experienced the same event.
Talking later in our weekend meeting with other hobbyist only the few that had their lights on did noticed something weird and that time we didn't had much of lights, most were running T12 a few VHO's
Anybody else remember this event and if so what about if you had a aquarium of some sort?
That said I'm going to program my lights to reduce it to 67%, so only 23% of my light will be on next Monday 08/21 just in case of any weird effects.
The reason I do the 23/67% ratio is that Houston will experience not a total solar eclipse but only 67% of it.
In any other parts of the US it's different of course, but you can google your area.
We all know that animals have a better sense of noticing any change in weather pattern due to the barometric pressure and I just want to help them a little to ease the stress.
Any thoughts??
