I read some of your earlier posts and you list your alk. at 9dkh, do you still keep it at this level?
It seems all the zeo heads recommends at keeping parameters closer to nsw.

Hi Reefltx,

Excellent question. I keep the alk closer to seven now. I have noticed that the corals become more sensitive to a higher alk with a lower nutrient level. I never experienced the receding tips (that are common with a higher alk) when I kept some nutrient in the water column. When I keep a higher amount of phosphate and nitrate in the water column, the corals can tolerate (for lack of better terms) the higher alk. This is why my corals did well even when I used zeo and ran a higher alk. My goal was not zero nutrients at all costs. I targeted a balance. With that said… my growth was better when I brought the alk down. Even though my corals thrived with the higher alk, they did even better with a lower alk.
When I first began ZEO, I followed the process perfectly. The result was pale unhealthy corals. I remember taking the corals out of my tank for maintenance, only to put them back and watch the flesh float off the skeleton. When I began keeping some nutrient in my water, the corals regained their coloration, growth, and overall healthy appearance. The turning point in my tank was when I began feeding the coral to a point where I was able to max out feeding and maintain low nutrients… The lower alk just helped kick everything into motion.
Hope this helps!
James

I think u may have meant Acropora Rambleri, which is a deepwater that some say tables out . Any who it looks great despite the unknown factor . Keep up the drool work ... :)

Hey LilBuddha,

I just caught this. LOL. Very funny. It was sold to me as a Ramble Berry. With the crazy names of corals, I just nodded and smiled... and then purchased because I thought it looked cool. Thanks for the good catch!

Nice looking and healthy SPS. Great job!

Thanks Reef Pets. It would look even better with some of the sweet SPS you offer! :)

Hi Laragcon - It is very possible. At one time I thought that sand and rock were needed for a healthy biological filter. They are not. Feel free to ask any question and I will do my best to answer.

Amazing as always.

Hi Manoj! Great to hear from you! You are always welcome to swing by to check out the tank.

Warmest Regards,
James

Your very welcome, Sahin! I'll post some more in a couple months. I am going to try and clear out some corals that I have multiple colonies of. Now that the corals are much bigger, I want to give them some more room to grow out. I could write an entire new post on coral wars and what corals beat other corals.

Warmest Regards,
James

Hi Zack, I would say lower light. I can provide a PAR measurement later this week. I'm pretty sure the PAR is around 250-275. Warmest Regards, James

James, incredible collection and tank. Love it!

I have a question. When you got ur frag if the pc superman was it a dark green? Mine which was sold to me as a PC superman is a dark green maybe bluish tint to it. Wondering if it turns into the pinkish rink with blue tips as it grows?
Thanks
