Whats something new you've started that you were hesitant or didn't think would work and actually worked surprisingly well? Can be as simple as using filter socks, to changing filter socks more often, to dosing something, to doing water changes again.

I've been trying to get my nutrients in check and stopped feeding 2 cubes of frozen at night(only 1 now), started back to appropriate water changes, though I missed last week.. and have started changing my filter socks every three days or so. My nitrates have dropped 5ppm and my phosphates went from .19 to .09 in the last 2 weeks, without any gfo. I also started dosing microbactor 7 every saturday.

kalkwasser dosing for me. Old school method, but it keeps alk and ph right in check.
I use all for reef, but i think my sump in the basement is keeping my ph low, not terrible, but it swings from 7.9-8.1 ish and I would like to keep it above 8. I had contemplated using kalk but I would have to change my whole dosing routine and im hesitant

Dosing MB7 for the last few weeks and boy has it helped out my tanks algae problem. Don't know what kind but it's like GHA with long 2-3" strings. dang near gone in less than 2 weeks. (Now if I could do something about my Bubble algae.....)
It will cut down your nutrients in a hurry if not careful. I still dose N03 and P04 so that is not a problem for me. Luv this stuff and works great in my FW Planted tanks also.

Maybe that's what's helping me? I dose like 25-30ml in a 150-160g system once a week. I assume it's helping some but probably the fact that im using filter socks and doing water changes that's making the biggest difference?

I've slowly started planning what I want to do differently whenever I start our tank again!

I'm trying to figure out how I want to continue. I hate cleaning filter socks haha
I hate cleaning them too! I've thought about just buying a filter roller to solve this issue, haha

Look into reef diaper disposable filter socks! I've never used them personally, but I've heard good things.

I use 300 and 400 micron mesh socks now instead of felt.

I dose dsr ez trace and add it to my ato. Was dosing by hand.

I only do monthly 5% WC's now instead weekly.

Newest is dosing Flourine to bring out the blues. It had an immediate visual effect and I add it to my ato also.

Apparently I need to start a thread that's just focused on what people add to their ato. I don't currently dose anything into mine! Thats pretty interesting
