Whatever he is, he's just using the coral for cover, he's not eating it or trying to kill it.

Either leave him alone and feed him like any of the other multitude of invisible/unknown residents, or trap him out with food to see what he is politely.

Forget MDK strategy – that's not what it's about. (Murder Death Kill)

Couldn't have said it better myself. If he's not killing it, he doesn't deserve to be killed himself.

Iv not dipped yet and lights are out at min , I'll get some better pic tomorrow for you
All I can say at the min is that whatever it is ....it has pull a small bit of rock into the hole to cover it
I can just about see a bright yellow ,orange leg
Deffo gonna do something tomorrow
Would a gall crab pull rock in to cover a hole ?
Iv been reading on them , some say their real bad and some say not to worry ... I'm more on the worried side

Do you have any tongs or tweezers that you could use to pull out whatever is in there?

Can you move the coral tonight? so the hole is closer to the glass....so tommorrow get better photos?
Understand that your worried, I'd be too best to figure out what it is exactly.

IDK if gall crabs will move rocks, can only say I havnt seen it but havnt seen many of them. I've had a eunicid(worm) do that...but I dont think thats what we are dealing with.

Get better photos first but ... You might try just a straight slightly colder FW dip..... critters likely to haul out pretty fast and if you put it back into tank water(like a bowl) Not likely to kill it.

Well it seems iv another gall crab......I think
If not a gall than some other coral killing thing
My elegance coral all of a sudden closed up about 2 weeks ago hasn't opened since and is slowly dieing before my eyes
I tried moving it about , more light ,less lights , sand bed , rock but still it got worse
Anyway after getting home today I look at it and see a small white crab looking thing sitting in it
If you look through this thread you'll see a gall crab that killed my brain coral {tracky } I got him out of the coral but the brain was a gonner

Anyway do you think this thing in the pics is the same
It's the white thing in the middle have a good look and you'll see it
Whatever it is it's the reason my elegance is dieing
Thanks people
