Now that everything is back in the 65g from the nano tank I figured I needed a new build thread. I've had a saltwater tank continuously for well it will be 2 years in June or July. However during that time I've switched tanks twice, once down grading to a 10g after a bacterial infection wiped out all my fish and most recently moving everything back into the 65g becuase the 10g was way too hard to keep stable and I'm over my fallow period and want fish again. Originally I set up a low flow dsb tank in order to be able to keep a mandarin. It was working too till the bacterial infection. This time I think I'm going to try something different though I'm not sure exactly what other than it's going to be a cleaner tank with higher light, medium flow and a very shallow sand bed. I got tired of the algae with the low flow dirtier tank. It always looked messy. I'm leaning towards doing an mixed reef/anemone tank but I've never had an anemone so we will see if I can keep one alive. My new light should be able to so I figure I don't have too bad of a chance.

Just added this lovely rock flower anemone and a yellow tang. I've wanted a RFA for a long time now and this is the first pretty one I've managed to find in my price range locally.

The rock flower ended up climbing over some rocks and then was dragging itself across the sand by its little tentacles. So I cuaght it and moved it to this spot where it has stayed for probably a week now. It seems to like it. I think it just wanted better light, lower flow, and to have its foot sort of trapped in by rocks. I don't think it felt very secure in the other spot. This is my first anemone and I am really surprised by how active it is and it's doing really well.

Well my newest little guy got here on the 18th;) I'm just starting to try to get my tanks back into order after doing nothing but sleep and feed him for the past almost two weeks.

Went to my saltwater lfs for the first time in quite awhile. One of the employees even mentioned how long it had been since I'd been in. I took Sebastian with me. He slept the entire time. I got two new blasto frags and a twinspot goby. I was wanting a diamond goby but they talked me into a twinspot which is probably a better choice for my tank size wise. The super blurry brown picture is of him in my quarintine tank. There are a picture of the corals during acclimation and once they are in my tank. I'll post another picture once they actually open up. I've also been doing some rearranging in my tank since I got a huge dead mounted coral from my local freshwater place.

Death list: twinspot goby and rock flower anemone
The Twinspot didn't survive quarantine and the rock flower just melted one day.

In happy news the new blastos are doing fantastic and my acan has started to bounce back. My yellow tang is starting to get a little less shy. He discovered a cave in my new rock work that he likes better than his old one. I'm debating whether or not to get any more fish for awhile becuase I haven't had good luck lately and I'm planning on moving next year. If I do get more I'm considering maybe a pair of azure damsels. They're supposed to be tough and are a lovely color. I'm also thinking of sticking to just getting blastos and acans becuase they are the only corals that seem to do well for me and I'm really tired of stuff melting or just withering away on me.

Got a new blasto color morph today. I'm really looking forward to getting a picture of it tomorrow with the regular lights on.

The new blasto before and after feeding. I'd never seen one quite like this before. It has a bright neon green center surounded by dark reddish flesh. What makes it unique though is that the ridges on the red portion are a beautiful almost olive green. It is the most unique one in my collection now. The other ones are mostly variations of the neon green center with red around though I do have one where the red is pink instead. That one is more fluffy like some of the acans.
