Are you having an outbreak of them? Also, do you have any pictures under white light?Hey everyone I have a 10 gallon saltwater tank and was just curious how many spaghetti worms are too many.
When in the dark they are dormant when the light hits them and stays they stretch the tentacles. There's 5 of em this ones probably only 5 6 26th's long.Under my phone light. I noticed a bigger version coming out of a live rock a couple months back. Googled it and it looked close to a spaghetti worm. ( tentacle wise)
Judging by the amount of tentacles around my tank I have about 8 - 10. Should I keep them?Spaghetti worm population will self regulate based of food supply. That said, the pics looks a aiptaisia to me
+1 on the food supply population regulation. However, the curved, orange tentacles and white, calcareous tube indicate this is a tube/fan/feather duster worm, a harmless filter feeder:Spaghetti worm population will self regulate based of food supply. That said, the pics looks a aiptaisia to me
Yes, tube/fan/feather duster worms are harmless, though they will multiply over time very slowly. I have had a few in my tank for years, but I keep forgetting about them because there are so few, and those that are present are hidden behind my overflow.Judging by the amount of tentacles around my tank I have about 8 - 10. I haven’t heard of the green ones, but if you could get pictures, that would be great.Whoa that looks cool. What about green tentacles? I haven't seen the body of the biggest one but it's green tentacled. I don't have pics but they are worm like.
Spaghetti/hair worms have much longer, thinner tentacles and do not reside in tubes. When in the dark they are dormant when the light hits them and stays they stretch the tentacles. There's 5 of em this ones probably only 5 6 26th's long.
I can get pics when I get back home of the tentacles. Whatever it is it's large and deep in the rock with aloot of tentaclesI haven’t heard of the green ones, but if you could get pictures, that would be great.
Where'd that pic come from? didn't see that or notice the tube. Does it come out of the tube? How big is it? Agree feather dusters/ tube worms are good guys, mine are very small..+1 on the food supply population regulation. So I got both. ? I posted pics up in the thread...Spaghetti worms look like little hairs, reaching out, feeling around and pull detritus to the mouth in center
This is a spaghetti/hair worm. Good CUC and, as mentioned by @Reefering1 , their population depends on available food. The big ones inside the rock but these ones are out rn.
Didn't even notice the tube. Maybe I have a little PTSD from the 3 year aiptaisia battle that I'm almost throughhttps://live.staticflickr.com/3316/3301152214_342255353d_c.jpg
In OP's pictures, the tube extends vertically above the tentacles.
