Hey everyone. I bought a spawned super small Aussie gold at a show about 1.5 months ago and I’ve had it in frag racks the whole time. Initially it expanded a lot but now it’s much less expanded but still opens and I accepts food. I did notice that it’s growing it’s skeleton pretty quick so maybe it’s using energy for that? I started off completely flat on the plug and now it’s got a 1 cm skeleton. I’ve been moving the plug to try to adjust lighting and flow but I think I need to choose a spot and leave it. For reference my Malaysian banana torch and all other LPS are thriving.

Here’s when I first got it, not opened fully

Here’s when it was at its biggest

Here it is now (can it growing upward)

And for fun my other torch

Still looks fine imo. Is your other torch always a consistent size?

Ok that’s a relief! The other one really doesn’t change much. It has days where it looks a bit better or worse but it looks like it does in that pic 99% of the time

Just leave it at it’s spot since you have both seen good growth and polyp extension, nothing wrong with the flow and placement i reccon and yes they do grow upwards. My guess its some creature bothering it like Hermit, Fish etc or water params, maybe a minor swing ticked it off a little or something like it.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately it melted away progressively and I finally threw out the skeleton last week. On the bright side my banana torch is starting to split. I’ll probably avoid aussies for now, at least until I have a tank big enough to have the stability it needs
