Does anyone know what this is? The tang is in qt and going through cupramine. It is almost at the end of the two weeks.

Are the spots raised a bit and cottony/fibrous? If so it's Lymphocystis. Very often when fish, especially tangs, butterflies, angels, are going through copper and their immune system is depressed, this virus pops up. Harmless, and will come and go throughout its life, especially when its immune system is stressed.

Have you considered giving the fish a freshwater dip to check for flukes?

Yessir. That was my first instinct. No flukes thankfully.

He eats well though so I’m leaning more towards Lympho.
I have fish covered in ich in QT and are eating well also. So i wouldnt rule out ich just yet

How long has your copper been therapeutic for? How are you testing for copper in water as well? Do you have another QT to transfer fish to as well?

If fish are staying in same tank they need to be in therapeutic copper for 30 days. I would suggest a Hanna copper checker if you can swing it. I know the color charts are hard to read.

This is a good thread to read. Remember though he is using copper power not cupramine.

The cupramine instructions say 14 days though?
14 days at full therapeutic level is ok if you are then transferring the fish to a fresh, sterile QT for observation of another 14 days.

FWIW, when I used to use cupramine, I always left the fish in the copper for a full 30 days as long as the fish looked like it was doing well. Some fish that are very sensitive to copper, like wrasses, you really have to be careful and pull them if they are not handling the copper.
