SPS and Anemones?

Curious if reefers have tanks with Anemones and SPS. My reefs with nems dont grow sps well. Feel free to comment.

Yes, I have anemones on one side of my tank and acros on the other side. I've had the RBTA's for 6 years and they don't move from their rocks. A nem on the move is lethal to SPS in my experience.

I have a mated pair of Red Sea Clowns, also 6 years old. My tank is a RSR XL 425, 112 gallons. There are 3 anemones, 2 are rbta and 1 is a Rainbow bubble tip. Have about 35 acros.

I've always had a mixed reef and have never had a problem with allelopathy. I even have 3 leather corals which many people say will interfere with SPS growth. I've just never experienced that.

I haven’t had an issue with this discharge you speak of. Just her splitting and being annoying and grazing stuff far more valuable than she. Only reason I keep it is cuz I’ve had it since like 06.

Yes, both do fine in my tank, but about once a year I scape out 5-10 new BTAs and given the amount of space 2 -> 10 takes up over the course of a year I’m considering just removing them all... they make for a nice splash of color and movement but yes they are annoying.

I got the Miyagi Tort 6 months ago.

I've only had this Tierra Del Fuego for 6 weeks. It has lost the green because it's in high par, but you can see the crazy new growth popping out.

Also, I've never run carbon to counteract chemical warfare. Just a GFO reactor.

The bad part of this combination is when the nems split.... its those clones until they find a spot if you don't find them first is the danger. i started with one RBTA and now have 4 in the tank. good thing the clones keep ending up in back corners they they all have well establish foot holds so no way to get them out now.

I had a HUGE colony of mystic sunset montipora, my anemone decided to set up shop right next to it. It started dying where the nems tentacles were reaching. I relocated it to a friends tank.

I had to kalk inject a 7 year old bubble tip. Chemically they exist just fine but once they move, they will sting the crap out of anything it settles next to. Occasionally you may get lucky for a short time and the anemone will set up shop next to sps with only the underside of its disk touching, won’t sting then. However once a tentacle touches the coral it’s game over. Anemones don’t ever lose the battle.
