Ah rite, could be the flow then you reckon. I hadn't really considered that. Have you experienced this before? What sort of flow do you recommend?
I had bad flow and rtn’d my entire acro collection. It needs random good flow, I use maxspect gyres now combined with mp10’s.
Your high and narrow flow then flow turning off every 15 minutes is what’s killing you.

I'll give that a go, think I need to try all these things 1 at a time. Thanks for advice.

Either lights or aggressive flow.
Acclimation is very important and lights not bright white which will burn them up. Hopefully youre not using GFO which will cause this quickly

Good tips. What do you do for acclimation? And what are your phosophates at?

Ok interesting stuff. Just to confirm that 0.3, as opposed to 0.03? How long before you move the corals up the tank? Do you have an indicator to say they have been acclimated? Thanks

Sorry, did this on my phone. It is 0.03 and the indicator is polyp extension or tips showing growth, then they eventually make it above the halfway mark

By furnishing numbers and other conditions, it is easy to work with using a process of elimination. When it comes to disease or something dying, pics are of value

Good stuff. Just got some new LPS in today. Will leave on sand bed for a while and see what happens. Will explore a new sps piece in a few weeks. I turned the flow up a bit too. Seems quite strong but nothing is getting directly blasted. Torch is moving randomly so good sign i guess.

I have sent away an ICP test, turned down my lights a bit and changed the flow. Lets see if that has an effect

I'm shaving the same problem. I run carbon in a bag and gfo in a reactor 24/7 for both. Should I be cutting this back?
I hate gfo and carbon dosing when housing sps. I do however have a bag of activated carbon. Pm me the issues you’re having and I might be able to help.

Just an update on this thread. I got my ICP results back. I had elevated copper and zinc and low iodine. So I did the following. 2 15% water changes so far. Added carbon and cuprosorb. Removed a brass fitting on one of my reactors. I'll try another sps piece soon. The LPS I got are doing well on the sand bed.

Looks like you're solving the elevated copper, though I'm curious how long you'd have to run carbon since it could in your rock for who knows how long.

Yeah, gonna run the cuprisorb for a while then do another ICP test. Supposedly it should help my zinc too. We shall see.
