Well I have stopped dosing and only doing water changes and it still 480-500

You likely have an extremely low load then. Probably don’t need dosing except for the occasional testing and correction. But if your original question is, “is more calcium better”? No, around 420 is the best number.

Just don’t add it. It’s not going to hurt anything being that high. Just don’t add calcium until it lowers. Which means don’t use a balanced additive like kalkwasser or a calcium reactor. Avoid high calcium salts like Kent marine

What salt mix are you using? Some will mix a lot higher at 1.026 than others. And where’s your alk and mg levels? If your mg and alk are in line and things are growing fine you are likely okay.

Personally I wouldn't do anything to reduce. You are on the high end of cal. As load increases cal will decrease.

I like to balance it with the alk level for optimum calcification. However, being off of this ratio is not a detriment, just will not be as advantageous.

I like a low calcium salt... I can always add more, but there is no easy way to take it away. It is easy to drop alk in any salt mix. I use IO for this reason...among others.

For a mixed reef your alk or KH should be between 8.0 and 12.0. I try to keep mine around 10.0
