SPS die, other corals thrive????

yeah, the PO4 could be a culprit. All other param's look good!

Are you running any GFO Ryan? If you're gonna start keeping some SPS, you may want to start on the GFO - or perhaps give the Vodka / MB7 a shot to try and get rid of that hair algae. Elevated PO4 levels can be deadly to SPS.

Man my lack in nutrient export has killed some pretty animals :(

I hate this feeling!

Time to get some phos-free and GFO now.
I do have some gfo in a bag in the sump, but doubt that's doing much.

Forget about the motorcycle for a quick second here and get your self a reactor and some gfo they are not very expensive as a package at BRS.:)

When you add the GFO, don't add too much at once. I would probably do half dosage for a week. The big nutrient reduction is a big shock.

Yeah it will be awhile before I can ride again!
Man this is such a depressing thread! haha!

Going to invest in GFO reactor once I get my next min wage paycheck..... Min wage is not fun :(

Give me one of my old jobs back! MANNNNNN

Thanks for the tip Dylan, cool avatar btw!

Atleast I am not alone, I recently lost a colony to RTN, and when redoing my scape one of my nicest pieces was smashed to bits. FWIW I use Mb7, GFO, carbon, Biofuel, and NP Biopellets. I use all RO/DI and do w/c at 25% bi-weekly. I tested my P04 the other day thinking it was all good and got a .07 reading....ouch. Sometimes its a real pain, so anyhow I changed my GFO after the .07 reading and used a half cartridge full on my BRS reactor. A few days later the piece RTN'd, probably from dropping the P04 to fast...With all the time I have spent on SPS one thing is for sure, everything has to be changed very very slowly. Also I have noticed that pieces that RTN from to much P04 in the water often have a green tinge to their skeleton base color intead of pure white.

Sorry to hear I had the same thing happen to me a few years back except I lost some huge colonies.....I was out of town for a week and came home to dead SPS and LPS happy as can be (they probably had been feeding on the dead SPS tissue).
