Well I hate seeing this and NO idea what happened. I leave town for a day and a half to go to this coral swap. Come back, a large colony of acropora and a small milli colony both GONE. As of today. I don't know what happened!

All I know is my Rainbow Raptures haven't grown new polyps since I received them, now 2 new babies on each frag I have. Also Red Hornet 3 new polyps, Blue Hornet 2 new polyps. LPS all fluffy and puffed up.

Any idea what happened?

sps is much diff from all others. I have an sps dominated reef and for them to grow great i make conditions where my soft corals cant grow even. All my zoas or softies melt instantly

did anyone top off or dose for you? How big is your tank? You could of had a pH swing since you weren't there to dose and subsequently these two corals didnt like it.... you know low pH can be caused from top off all day and then all night without dosing to neutralize the acid esp in smaller tank. Its far fetched but I dont think it would be anything else. Were they new colonies? Wild? sometimes super sensi if so. just trying to help you figure it out if its none of the above then its b/c you went out of town for sure.

I've had the pieces for at least a month, no they were both full aquacultured.
No need for top off my water doesn't evaporate that fast haha. The ph stays between 8-8.2
I have a monitor and have never seen it under 7.9.
Nothing new has been in my tank for months, wouldn't I have noticed a nuisance parasite before this?

Wouldnt I have noticed a nuisance parasite before this???Not necessarily but I don't think they could kill 2 colonies in a day and a half anyways.Just trying to help ya out and cover all corners:nerd:

Ryan, any chance of stray voltage? LPS can sometimes be more tolerant of that than SPS. Weird event as your parameters are good. Sometimes these things happen with SPS. It's what makes keeping SPS so challenging - and what makes it even more rewarding when you can keep it from happening...: )

As of the night this happened, all approx.

DKH - 10
Mag - 1250
Cal - 420
ph - 8.1
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate-0
Ammonia-0
salinity-1.025

Craig, stray voltage would give me an answer but.... I have a grounding probe on it, I will test the water to double check, thanks for the tip!
