Okay here is what I do know tank was purchased and set up in January. As of last week everything was good. I went and bought some sps and dipped them out them in the tank with existing sps a leather torches zoas hammers Goni and fish. They died right away. Covered in brown stingy stuff. Some all white within hours the others took two days. Now my existing sps have this stringy stuff on them and are dead or dying my zoas are closed up and my leather was slimy and closed for a day or so torches seem to be okay..

Nitrates 0 to 5 hard to tell on my cheap api kit looks 0
Phosphates 0
Salinity 1.026
Temp 78.4 did swing up to 81
Ph8.33
Magnesium 1220
Alk 8.0
Calcium 440

lights are ai

did the dip get in my water? Was it the temp swing?? Is it Dino killing them??

A day I would say. Would that cause that stringy stuff or is that how they die?

That stringy stuff looks like dinos. Your low nitrates and phosphates allowed them to take hold. The temp swing may have stressed things but not likely.

Did you do a clear rinse post dip? After I dip corals I do two clear rinses to make sure no more dip is remaining.

I thought Dino’s too maybe with such high lights I did have the t 5s on for the day too I did two clear rinses but it just followed adding them and it’s been so stable that I was mostly worried on that and the Dino’s. Now I have a algae scrubber and some chaeto will waste away that kills the Dino’s mess up my scrubber?

Should I dose some nitrates and phosphates? I had also been feeding reef roids I’m sure that fed the Dino’s also but I was trying to get those phosphates up some

Is your water yellow? Or is it just the lighting? Carbon is your friend as long as you dose.

Dino’s are everywhere. They will always be in your tank. It’s the conditions that bring about a bloom. Low nitrates and po4 will cause a bloom.

Also can Dino alone cause then to die that fast

Not to my knowledge. They take time. It was a swing in water parameters or something toxic was added. Anything can do it. Cleaning sprays, air freshener. If it’s sprayed close enough. Maybe you had lotion on and didn’t wash it off well enough. Lots of things.
