I used a par meter when I set up the lights. But I haven't since then. My acros are touching the surface of the water already. I bet they are getting more light than I think they are
I remember when I first got my lights. . I stressed out over how to set up my lights. I stressed over par, spacing between the lights. I watched BRS videos on YouTube. This is when the echotech raidon G5s first came out. I was using hydras before. I knew nothing about raidons at that time I asked questions and not too many people helped me out. I borrowed a par meter from my LFS. I kinda just winged it and did the best I could. I think consistency is more important than PAR. Corals will adapt to most any lighting. Still people should start them off on a low setting at first and work your way up. But me personally I don't pay too much attention to numbers. I just plug them In set them up and don't mess with it too much. So far that's working great for me.
