I have read this term used several times since I got in the hobby, most recently on Reef Central in the Live Stock for sale section. What does the term SPS Grafted Corals mean? Does it mean what I think it means, grafting a piece of one coral to another coral, like you would a tree? Why would you want to do this, what are the benefits to doing this.

It's not referring to putting two different coral species together to make one new one. Most of the "grafted" corals actually contain a GFP infection that changes their colors. They don't always show up, and have been known to dissapear so buy with caution if you have any doubts.
