SPS identification help

Good afternoon everyone,

I picked up these two frags yesterday to try my hand at SPS finally. I’ve had success with lps & softies.

I believe what I’ve got is: (birds-nest & the second one I have no clue… is it a pocillopora)? The store owner told me they would be good starters and I got home and forgot the names haha.

Green pavona, aka, cactus coral, potato chip coral.

Birdsnest yes, hardly a begginer coral. Very finicky, fine one day, dead the next. Need extremely stable water, IME.

You could be on to something, doesn't look like a typical birdsnest.

No axial corallites= no Acropora
It's a branching species of Montipora called Montipora hirsuta

It's possible it could be a staghorn but those typically are a little thicker in the branches. You may have to let this one grow out a tad before we can see what it is.

For instance here is one of my Stags, it's a green slimer.

branching one is either Anacro or Monti; would need a clearer photo to tell (papillae present = monti)

I agree on the hirsuta id. As it grows a little it will become more obvious.

Could have been Elkhorn? That would most likely be montipora hirsuta.

You know I can’t say for sure, but the “elkhorn” most definitely seems to resemble it
