Yes I do. I dose 1-2ml every couple of days. I do not measure potassium level, I dose to have clear conscience :p

Excellent. Thanks for the info. The KZ brand of Potassium?

I was curious about the belief that zeolites deplete potassium. I thought if you don't dose it, then it may be the bacteria using it and being skimmed (in a normal Zeo tank). Since you don't skim, if you did not dose it, then this would re-enforce this theory, but you do dose, so theory is bust.

This theory that zeolites deplete potassium is the myth under one condition, you must use original KZ zeolites. I am KZ product believer but if I can use a substitute like potassium then I do.
I use only few : ZS3, Biomate, Zeobak, SpongePower, Flatwormstop and Coralbooster.

I have been following this thread for awhile due to my interest of having an SPS focused tank without the need for a protein skimmer. I am at the point where I am comfortable enough to attempt a similar approach in my 500 tank build. I am drawn to the ability of keeping corals healthy without the need to focus closely on inorganic nutrient levels (NO3 and PO4). My biggest challenge will probably be controlling my feeding so as to not overfeed.

My build has been progressing slowly over the last few years, so dont expect to see any results for awhile. But hopefully closer to the end of this year, I will be well underway. I just ordered a capable CaRx for this tank. I planned to try a DIY Dastaco for this tank, but I will have enough to focus on without a DIY project as well. I am looking at the Avast Vibe reactors for the zeoliths. I like the idea of being able to shake the stones automatically throughout the day.

Hopefully this will work out and we will have another tank as an example of this method.

Would you mind if I ask your tank's dimensions? I just got a 30x30x15 and was curious about the difference in scale.

I don’t mind. Tank dimensions are as follows:
total length is 230cm (display part got 170cm)
Width is 150cm
Height is 60cm

Jacek, you mention that you dose the KZ addittives at 1/10th the normal dose. What about zeolites. What volume of zeolites do you use? I am trying to figure out how many Avast reactors I need.

Dennis
Hi Dennis I am using 3ltr zeolites, I know, I should use 4ltr but KZ reactor with full load is quite heavy to operate for my wife.
I recommend to read https://cms.korallen-zucht.de/files/korallenzucht_guide_easy_reefing_engl.pdf
please pay attention for this sentence
"Observe, adjust according to developement!” this apply to every KZ addittives in my opinion.

Hi Jacek, using the 1L/400L system volume from the guide, for your 1400L system, 3.5 L would be suggested. So your 3L is not too far off the recommendation. If my system ends up at the planned 800G/3000L, then the guide suggest 7.5 L. So worst case is that I require (2) 4L zeo reactors. That gives me enough to go on.

Amazing natural light coloration! I don’t see that too often with tanks that dont skim. I like your stats the most :)
Thank you ;Shy

I love your aquarium and I want to learn how you did it so I will just read the thread a couple times.

Thank you.
I try to implement KISS rule. Mechanical filtration is the key of success, plenty of LR and high water turnover. Fish selection is important, they should work hard in aquarium, eating algae and protecting your corals, so you do not have to feed them hard.
