How many MP 40s would be enough for a 72x30x24 SPS tank, I was thinking Four, Tank won't have a closed loop system.

I had thought about a MP 60, man those things are big, kinda like having a boat motor hanging on the side of your tank.

My concern about the mp60 would be not having any sps directly in front of it. Depends on your layout I guess.

The tank will be full of SPS corals before I am finished with it. I was expecting an answer of between 2 to 4 MP40s, they kinda threw me coming back with the MP 60s. I think I would rather have the Mp40s in the tank.

If you are wanting just the Mp40's, then I would go with the original number of 4. I think that would be plenty and you want to err on the side of to much flow since its not closed loop.

I have 1 MP 40 and 1 MP 20 to my 48"x24"x20" and I can rip the tissue off the SPS because of my layout being close to the sides. I would honestly put one on each side and maybe a couple smaller vortech on the back walls. JMO

4 mp40s or 2 mp 60s... i would go with the 60s myself i swaped four mp40s for my 2 60s and couldn't be happier!!!!! there quieter and just give way more flow!!!!! and honestly there not that big you will get used to them real quick....
