sps turning white on bottom need help

1st problem = flow - def not enough to get flow to the colonies as they grow. as sps grow they start to block the water movement to themslves and others. two small pumps like a K3 and a maximod are not enough for sps in a 75

2nd problem = light - 150's alone are not enough for that tank - same as above, as sps grow they begin to shade their lower portions. i would either bump up to 250's or better yet add some VHO or T5's to your 150's. MH is a point source of light and create def shadows (the glitter lines everyone likes) but these shadows can cause the bottoms to become shaded. flourescents would eliminate that and add power at the same time

3rd problem - could be something else entirely. the fact that you say they eventially die has me wondering. if 1 or 2 above were the only problem i don't think the corals would die. they would likely just show some reccession on the bottom, poor PE and likely slow growth overall. this leads to the questions
how many sps are we talking here?
how long have you had/ are you able to keep them?
what is your source - are they aqua/mari/wild caught?
have you checked for pests?

i had a friend who was having the same problems and he did a flat worm exit regimine and it stopped, not saying its flat worms but thats what it looks like to me. i did not see any in the pics but its worth a try. i also agree have seen the same thing with alk/cal shift keep a close eye and maybe get newer kits to be 100% certain its not that

Have you tried any dips??? I would give one a bath for like 5-10 min and blast with a turkey baster.... If everything checks out I would say it's a pest problem myself.... Aefw or maybe even red bugs....

LOL, thread is almost 6 years old.
Maybe a bulb change is on it's place for the MH ;)
