spspirates 150 gallon build

Have they made good progress with these hybrid fixtures? I see one at a lfs that isn't all that great as far as popping out the colors on the corals. I think they run a Phoenix 14k bulb. I love the concept and would really like to test one out sometime.

The idea seems to work for me and as we all know it's more than just light that produces coral color. A Phoenix is a great bulb! Are they running HQI or moguls?

Once the light is hung I'll have cords hanging from the light fixture draping over the tank. My fix for this is to mount a multi cord guide to hide, protect and guide the fixture cords down behind the tank to the floor. Something similar to this but it will be painted to match the wall.

I did the same with wires coming from my tv down to the stand. (painted to match the wall doesn't look bad at all)

Sweet Josh! Yeah Im hoping it will make things a little bit more organized and give it a cleaner look then just to have them draped over the side of the tank collecting salt creep.

OK, a couple updates! Water and rock is around the bend! ReefBrite Halide Hybrid is hung and electrical is almost finished. Here are a couple shots of the light hung and some LED action!

That is one very beautiful, thought out, clean, and waterLESS system you got there, lol. The light looks great also. I like how you ended up cleaning up/bundling the cords. Looking forward to seeing it with whatever aquascape you go with. If you put half the thought into your aquascape than you did for the system, it will be amazing! Good job

Thank you! Yea I had a couple ideas of what to do with the cords coming from the fixture. This way was less complex and looked just as clean as the original idea I had. The aqua scape will most likely be two islands consisting of tonga branch scattered around the base of each island.

Slowest build ever!!! I know! The reef gets the back seat sometimes when I need some benjamin's!..lol! House projects and baby on the way..etc. Wife very supportive of my addiction....it was in the marriage agreement!.LOL!

Viewing some rock this week so I can get that up and going in some brute trash cans.

What kind of rock are you planning on going with? Keep taking your time with the set up. The thought and patience really shows in the quality of what's coming along. I really rushed my previous tank and the one thing I'm glad I did with the new one was take my time.
